We first heard from Margarita Mantis last year upon the release of her EP Ocean of Life. That record introduced The Static Dive readers to a multi-talented emerging recording artist, audio engineer, and producer with an experimental vibe. She creates cinematic rock built on elements of classic rock, indie, and progressive art rock.
In the studio, Margarita Mantis uses a ground-breaking binaural and spatial audio recording technique which gives her mixes a cool 3-dimensional vibe. Lyrically, Mantis shares observations from her own journey of artistic and personal growth. She explores the many shortcomings and triumphs of the human experience.
“Though the Poppies Grow” is the brand new single from Margarita Mantis, released worldwide via all major streaming services on May 6, 2024. The track opens on the dark melodic themes and orchestral bombast of a military march. Guitars, synths, and strings paint the edges of the mix, creating a dramatic tapestry of sound over a pulsing kick drum. The singer steps to the mic and offers a stark poetic take on the horrific realities of war. She tells of lost innocence and irreparably damaged and destroyed lives amid an epic soundscape.
