MVI Drops New Acoustic Fusion

MVI

MVI (Mark Vickness Interconnected) is the collaborative creative vehicle of veteran composer and guitarist, Mark Vickness. A lifelong musician, Mark first began his journey on piano when he was just six years old. However, the guitar would soon come calling and the young artist dove in head first.

Since then Mark Vickness has earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree in composition. He received classical training in piano, guitar, sitar and tabla. As a professional musician he has worked for years as a performing jazz guitarist, composer and arranger with several film scores under his belt. For the last few decades, fans have known him best as the instrumental half of the acoustic fusion duo Glass House.

Mark launched the MVI project in 2023 with the album In the Rain Shadow. That record introduced an acoustic ensemble of folk-infused jazz virtuosos. MVI features Mads Tolling (violin), Matt Renzi (oboe/English horn/sax), Joseph Hebert (cello), Dan Feiszli (bass), Ty Burhoe (tabla), and MB Gordy (percussion). Last month the band dropped its much anticipated sophomore LP.

I Will Find My Way is the brand album from MVI, released worldwide via all major streaming services on July 25, 2024. The nine-song set is a showcase for the band’s unique instrumental progressive acoustic fusion sound. From the cinematic melodies of “The Four” to the experimental expanse and rhythmic grooves of “High Desert”, the record captures a collective of world-class musicians at the top of their game.

Vickness’ compositions have a warm conversational tone, perfectly suited for an organic arrangement. He creates visual scenes using bluesy minor-key riffs to paint the stormy seas of “Squall”, and lush interwoven melodies and rhythms to tell the tragic tale of “Icarus”. Since their debut, MVI’s roster has expanded. Mark takes advantage of the additional firepower to close the record with three new versions of songs from the first LP.
