Mars Bear is the professional name of singer, songwriter, and guitarist Ido Rosenbaum. Based in Tel Aviv, the veteran musician worked for many years as the lead vocalist and guitarist for the popular Israeli band Levanda. This summer he launched a brand new solo project.
A scientist by day and a guitar-slinger by night, Rosenbaum has worked as an independent musician for more that twenty years. He launched the Mars Bear project to develop his musical ideas and ambitions without external hindrance. The versatile and talented recording artist cites a diverse list of musical influences, including Elliott Smith, Nick Drake, Damien Rice, Pink Floyd, Bach , and Wilco.
“Grey Skies Behind Us” is the debut single from Mars Bear, released worldwide via all major streaming services on July 4, 2024. An ensemble of guitars and piano open the track on a dreamy melodic vibe. Soon the beat drops on a mellow 6/8 pop waltz as the singer steps to the mic. He offers a poetic and introspective mediation on time, perception, and better days ahead. As the song progresses, a full string orchestra expands the soundscape to dramatic cinematic effect.
