Joel Dalton is an independent singer-songwriter who made his professional solo recording debut in 2020 with the single “A Little Christmas”. That track introduced a Phoenix-based recording artist who pairs classic roots with an upbeat and modern aesthetic. He is a classically trained musician with a genre-bending sound.
Since his debut, Joel Dalton has released two singles and the six-song EP Live from Castle Hot Springs in 2022. He blends elements of pop, jazz, and acoustic folk into a distinctly smooth sound all his own. On his latest release, the AZ singer is adding a bit of 90’s pop-culture into the mix by dramatically reinventing Vanilla Ice’s signature hit.
“Ice Ice Baby” is the brand new single from Joel Dalton, released worldwide via all major streaming services on August 30, 2024. The track opens on an old-school boom-bap as lush vocal harmonies sing “word to your mother”, giving a clue as to what’s to come. An acoustic guitar and electric bass enter the mix and lend an easy beach-worthy vibe. Dalton sings in a velvety-smooth pop tenor, delivering lines like “I grabbed my nine and all I heard was shells falling” as though he is serenading his lover in the shade of a palm tree. It’s a lot of fun.
