We first heard from Jodie Fox last August, upon the release of her EP Wayfaring Stranger. That record introduced The Static dive readers to an multi-talented independent singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. She first sat down at a piano at the age of five, eventually teaching herself to play guitar and ukulele.
In addition to her songwriting and recording, Jodie is an award-winning writer and poet who took First Place at the Southwest Florida Poetry Slam in 2021. A veteran of the theater as well, earlier this year she won a scholarship to the Musical Writers Festival where she attended workshops with Broadway musical writer Amanda Green. Jodie’s latest is the title track from her brand new musical, currently in development.
“Velvet Curtain” is the current single from Jodie Fox, available worldwide via all major streaming services. The song is the title track from the forthcoming cast soundtrack album of a new musical written by Fox. As the track opens, piano, orchestral strings, and light percussive elements set a dreamy and serene theatrical scene. The singer steps to the mic and offers a tale of love and confusion as she questions the reality of her love and sincerity of her lover.
