Martin Manley is an emerging singer-songwriter who dropped his solo debut album in 2024. Although the record is his first release, it is hardly the beginning. The record is the musical culmination of a two decade examination of both art and life.

By his own assessment, the Scottish song man, “took the long way around.” For more than twenty years his musical development paralleled a personal journey of discovery. The result is a collection of insightful, emotional, and expertly crafted tales of life and love.

"There are probably many faster routes to this destination but I wouldn’t change a thing. Without pain we never transform into our true potential."

One Love (The Answer to Me) is the debut album from Martin Manley, released worldwide via all major streaming services on November 28, 2024. The thirteen-song set chronicles the insights gained and lessons-learned during the singer’s long road to self. From the gospel-infused Americana of “Follow the River” to the bluesy love song “I’ll Come To You”, Martin offers soulful virtuosity with humble intent.

Musically, Martin Manley seamlessly blends genres and styles together to form a cohesive sonic narrative. He serves uplifting alt-pop anthems (“One Love”), heartfelt acoustic ballads (“The Greatest Trick”), and introspective downtempo examinations of past mistakes. He is joined by a roster of world-class musicians.

The musicians on the LP include veterans of the stage and studio, like Gordy Goudie on guitar (Simple Minds, Echo & The Bunnymen). Ross McFarlane (Gerry Cinammon) is on drums, Lewis Gordon (Deacon Blue) plays bass, and Susan Boyle’s vocal coach Chris Judge handles backing vocals. Together they weave the perfect canvas for Martin’s personal portrait.

This versatile ensemble flows through the album’s stylistic moods with ease. They explore dark-pop introspection on tracks like “Heroin Days” and “Another Life” and joyful Celtic melodies with an uptempo groove on “Magical Girl”.  Martin Manley employs some cool studio and compositional experimentation on tracks like “Shark Attack” and the infectious “Lets Go Safariing”, before closing out the set with quieter numbers like the heartfelt cinematic ballad “Baby I Love You (Summer Needs A Sun)”.
