Luna & The Gents is a swinging new group from Basel, Switzerland. Despite their European roots, the band’s sound was born decades earlier across the Atlantic ocean in the United States. The project is the brainchild of songwriter/producer Leendert van Stipriaan (STIP) and vocalist Evelyne Péquignot.
STIP is an accomplished musician who has worked on a number of projects in various genres over the years. However, since childhood he has been a fan of English and American beat and rock groups from the swinging sixties. When his friend Evelyne discovered the prolific producer had secretly written a library of songs in the genre, she encouraged him to take them to the recording studio. So the duo assembled a roster of top players. Luna & the Gents was born.
“Perfect Day” is the debut single from Luna & The Gents, released worldwide via all major streaming services on January 24, 2025. The track opens on a classic railroad shuffle as the ensemble of guitar, bass, drums, and harmonica land on a mellow country-infused retro-pop groove. On the mic, Péquignot offers a joyful escape fantasy.
