new music, please!
It’s been a week, and I need some new tunes. I’m discovering music in new places, from groovy algorithmic finds like Buggy Jive, to a brand new track by my very own cousin, global rock & roll bass virtuoso, Chris Wyse. Check them all out below. Got some music you want me to hear? Tell me about it!
Chris Wyse
World renowned bassist Chris Wyse (Hollywood Vampires, Ace Frehley, The Cult, Owl) recruits frequent collaborators Dan Dinsmore (drums) and Tommy Henriksen (background vocals) to relive the motorcycle rumble and death-defying thrills of the late-great Evel Knievel. Check out “Being Evel” on the Deep Dive : Pop & Rock playlist.
Buggy Jive
The Spotify robots thought I might like Buggy Jive, and man were they right! Maybe the algorithm connected me to Buggy’s music because he (like me) is a groovy, weird, middle-aged Upstate NY multi-instrumentalist. Or maybe robots just dig a good groove.
Buggy Jive’s music straddles a couple of genres, so I have added two of his songs to Deep Dive playlists. “This Can Not Be That” on Deep Dive Vibes, and “When the Thang Ain’t Enough” on the Deep Dive : Pop & Rock.
Vyvyan Hammond
I was instantly hypnotized by Vyvyan Hammond’s sound. If Mazzy Star were to write movie music, it might sound like this.
Hear “Starseed” on Deep Dive Vibes.
From Vyvyan’s bio…
“Originally from Sydney, her music is steeped in raw feeling, lyrical honesty, and a sense of place shaped by a life spent observing, questioning, and creating. This is just the beginning—but it’s been a long time coming.”
Alexander IV
I got this groovy bit of Dutch Jazz-hop in my mailbox.
