New this week on the Deep Dive Playlists…
Tina Debs - Fake
Tina Debs is an international alt-pop artist from Buenos Aires, Argentina with a fantastic bit of retro, lo-fi, indie-pop with some smart and heady messaging. “Fake” pairs classic synths, an infectiously quirky hook, and just a touch of metal with Tina’s biting social commentary, delivered in a Dylan meets hip-hop staccato dead-pan. She had me at “Animals abused for beauty.”
Check out Tina Debs’ ‘Fake’ on the Deep Dive : Pop & Rock playlist.
J Fligh - Trust
On his new single “Trust”, UK singer/songwriter J Fligh brings some cool, cool, cool production, and smooth R&B vocal vibes. It’s a great sound, and great performance. J Fligh made his solo debut in 2023. Check him out on the Deep Dive : Hip-Hop and R&B playlist.
Gabrielle Ornate - Metaphysical
The ever-impressive Gabrielle Ornate returns to these pages with a fresh dose of sci-fi, spirituality, and art-rock multi-instrumentalist virtuosity. “Metaphysical” is a fantastic head trip that hits all the marks, with multi-part harmonies, odd-time breaks, and a healthy dose of funk psychedelia. Listen on the Deep Dive : Pop & Rock playlist.
Montage 970 - Thrift Store
Is Montage 970 a band, a man, a woman, child, or robot? We do not know. What we do know is that Montage 970 has dropped a dozen releases in the ‘Beats’ series, since their debut in 2018. You can find Montage 970 on two deep dive playlists. Check out “Thrift Store” on the Deep Dive : Dance & Electronic playlist, and “Guembri” on Deep Dive Vibes.
Julia. - Performing for You
I may start a funk playlist, just so I can feature more music by Julia. The Raleigh, NC band combines George Clinton funk, with Traffic-style psychedelic improvisation, and big Rock energy. Great stuff. Check out their new single “Performing for You” on the Deep Dive : Pop & Rock playlist.
