Downtown Mystic Sees A Better Day

Downtown Mystic

We first heard from Downtown Mystic in May of last year. He is a New York City based singer, songwriter and guitarist, also known as Robert Allen. Allen had just released his song, “The Wish,” a Classic Rock inspired plea to give peace a chance. The track was an early release single from the forthcoming album, “Better Day.”

Downtown Mystic is back with the album’s title track. “Better Day,” the single has the sing-along feel of the best 1980’s Alt-Pop. With its Tom Petty inspired 12-string guitar and the subtle soulful twang in Allen’s voice, the song has just enough of an AOR vibe to bring to mind artists like John Hiatt or Tom Chochrane.

Robert Allen hangs out with some big names when he is in the studio. His previous releases included collaborations with some Rock legends. The new song is no exception. The single features the ace rhythm section from Ian Hunter Band, drummer Steve Holley and bassist Paul Page. However, even with celebrity talent backing him up Allen is the star. His upbeat vocals and guitar are the heart of the song.

“Better Day” is a cool and catchy tune with a positive and motivational message. Of the song Allen says, “I wanted the album to have an overall positive vibe and Better Day was the perfect song to build on.”

The new single and album will be released everywhere January 24. However, you can check it out here right now. And follow the links below to connect with Downtown Mystic.
