Country’s Just Cooler In The Expert Hands Of Todd Barrow

Country's Just Cooler
Country's Just Cooler

We have heard from Todd Barrow a few times in recent months. That’s because Todd makes a lot of music. Since 2017 he has produced a steady string of Modern Country singles. The most recent being rollicking, “Country’s Just Cooler.” Barrow specializes in catchy, relatable tales of love and life in his home state of Texas.

Todd’s music has garnered him a lot of attention. The Texas singer-songwriter has earmed his share of awards and honors. They include; a PRSA Award of Excellence, an Akademia Award for Best Country Album, and artist spotlights in Alternative Roots Magazine, American Pride Magazine and AVA Radio. He has appeared on television shows including Good Morning Texas with Jerry Matheny and Texas Music Café on PBS. And Todd has rubbed shoulders on stage with the likes of Miranda Lambert and Tom Wopat. Recently he was awarded membership to the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

A few days ago Todd contacted me with some very exciting news. He was invited to perform at Blake Shelton’s Bar, “Ole Red” in Oklahoma. The famous club is named after Shelton’s chart-topping hit of the same name. Todd’s gig was scheduled for April 4th at 5:30pm. He asked me to take another look at his recent single “Country’s Just Cooler” in hopes of shining light on this high-profile gig.

And then, COVID-19 happened.

You all know the story from there. All gigs cancelled or postponed. Just like the rest of us, Todd and his band are staying home to ride out the storm. So, we don’t get to hob-nob with Country royalty as we enjoy Todd Barrow’s live show. At least, not this month. Fortunately, in our digital world, great music is just a mouse click away.

Country’s Just Cooler

On “Country’s Just Cooler,” Todd supports his thesis with big Texas guitars and the laid back, confident twang of his signature Southern tenor. It is an excellent song on which the artist expounds upon the many virtues of “real” Country. You can read my full review of the track here.

Although we are temporarily barred from seeing Todd (or anyone else) live, you should check out Todd’s Spotify profile. Fans of both modern and classic Country will find plenty to enjoy.
