Xwisdom Goes Old-School On The New My Name It’s Xwisdom

We first heard from Xwisdom in June of this year. The UK-based multimedia artist, influencer and musician had just released his single “Life.” The song took a look into his various observations and views on life and society. You can read all about it here.

The prolific artist began releasing music professionally early in 2020. Although he has only just gotten started, in that short time he has produced over a dozen singles and two albums. That is a remarkable output in less than a year’s time.

“My Name It’s Xwisdom” is Xwisdom’s latest single and it is an excellent example of his lo-fi, confessional hip-hop style. The track opens with a sample from an old Italian film. The song soon transitions smoothly into its main sample, an exotic flute melody. The beat has a really nice laid-back, old-school vibe.

Xwisdom opens the track with a fun bit of old-school rap-bragging and callouts to the competition. The lyrics soon dive deeper. What follows is a bit of world philosophy and then an autobiographical recount of the artist’s formative years. The teen years are difficult for many and Xwisdom looks bravely back at subjects from bullying to mental health. All the while he trades lines with a very cool flute loop.
