Readers of The Static Dive first heard from Dejhare (pronounce deɪ-Jhar) in September of this year, upon the release of the singer’s “D7” album. That record was a collection of reimagined dance versions of select tracks from her 2019 debut album, “Unbreakable.” The two albums together signal the launch of an already impressive musical career. In under two years the singer has reached music fans across the world.
Dejhare’s music is a mix of classic Pop and modern EDM sounds. Her creative energies are fueled by a storied life that has taken her from humble beginnings to ultimately travel the world. Through her experiences she found that humanity is defined more by what unites us than that which divides us. As an artist, she uses her music to celebrate the commonality of human experience.
There is no more dramatic example of that shared experience than the COVID-19 pandemic. Nearly everyone on the planet has felt the impact of the virus. On her uplifting and empathetic new single “Do What You Gotta Do,” released December 4, 2020, Dejhare reminds us all that we are in this together. Throughout the song she sings of the important things we all “gotta do” in 2020; wear a mask, socially distance and be responsible. She also reminds us not to give up, to always look forward to a better day.
Musically “Do What You Gotta Do” combines Dejhare’s keen Pop sensibilities with her love of dance music. The song opens with an 80’s New Wave-inspired Synthwave vibe. Analog synth bass and keys introduce the groove as it gradually builds from its retro origins into a modern House beat. The song has an infectiously classic club feel.
