We first heard from Da-Mind in July of last year upon the release of his video for the single “No Drama.” With that track the up and coming Hip-hop artist, also known as James Bussey, introduced us to his chill Southern style and laid back rap technique. With an old-school attitude he delivers a classic Hip-hop technique over beats that combine modern Trap with 90’s Boombap and plenty of 80’s synth sounds.
Since 2016 he has released a series of successful singles, each reaching thousands of listeners across multiple platforms. “No Drama” and the 2019 track “Dat Other Dude” each have over 20K spins on Spotify alone. In addition to his creative work, Bussey is a successful entrepreneur. He is the CEO of independent record label, Da-Mind LLC, supporting artists in the thriving Atlanta, Georgia Hip-hop scene.
“Beautiful” is the latest single from Da-Mind, released worldwide to all major streaming services on March 21, 2021. The track features the signature Da-Mind sound, with a chill downtempo beat and classic synths and bass tones. Over a slow Dirty South groove James delivers an ode to the beauty of black women everywhere. It is a cool, slow rolling and feel-good groove.
