We first heard from Melotika in June of 2020 upon the release of her video “Bury the Bones.” With its downtempo, Dark Pop mix of Rock, Electronic and Trip-hop vibes that track introduced us to a multi-talented singer, songwriter and producer. It has been an eventful year for Canadian artist. Despite battling the many obstacles that 2020 threw at us all, she has seen her popularity skyrocket as she simultaneously recorded a new album and ran a successful Kickstarter campaign to fund the project.
“Crazy” is the latest single from Melotika, and the second from her forthcoming album. The song was released on April 16, 2021 with a video that followed one week later. For the new track the versatile artist has adopted a retro dance vibe. A driving four on the floor beat, analog synths and some well placed piano chords create a cool mix of 70’s Disco, 80’s electro-Pop and a healthy dose of 90’s House music.
A skilled and classically trained vocalist, Melotika’s soulful tone brings to mind Pop/R&B dance floor queens like Taylor Dayne, Cher and Lady Gaga. Lyrically the song examines the inherent insanity of falling in love as she sings, “You say I’m crazy, look what you made me. I’m thinking maybe that I just won’t live without you.”
‘Crazy’ tells a deranged story about obsession and the craze behind falling in love with someone new.Melotika
