We first heard from Las Vegas based Pop singer Anthony Vacanti in April upon the release of his debut single “Dolly.” On that track, the Buffalo, NY native introduced us to his sizable talent and eclectic style with a retro Pop tune. The song boasted a jazzy theatrical flare that borrowed inspiration from decades of Pop music from the 1920’s to the 2020’s.
“Playboy” is the latest single from Anthony Vacanti, released worldwide to all major streaming services on April 29, 2021. Once again the versatile singer has delivered a reinterpretation of a classic Pop vibe. This time, he set his sights on the sexy Disco/Funk of the 1970’s and 80’s. With an infectious beat and salacious innuendo the track transports us back to a time of butterfly collars and bell bottoms.
Opening with a Cameo-worthy analog synth riff, the track quickly drops the beat for a cool, bass driven dance groove. Coming from the same sex-meets-funk world that Prince created on his 1980 classic “Dirty Mind,” the song leaves no question as to what kind of fun this “Playboy” is looking for. And like the Purple One, Vacanti matches the dirty funk groove with suggestive lyrics from his own dirty mind.
