Cam Rostami’s New Dose Of LA Indie-Pop Funk “Kids Get Paid”

Cam Rostami

We first heard from Cam Rostami in November of last year. The Static Dive featured his single “You Got It.” With that track we were introduced to an eclectic and über creative sound. Rostami is a singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist producer and actor from Los Angeles, California.

Cam made his solo debut in 2018 with the album “Find the Meaning.” A second album “Prism of Pleasure” followed in 2019. Since then, the prolific and experimental Alternative artist spent the pandemic producing a series of singles, each delivering some variation of his unique mix of Pop hooks, esoteric visual poetry and quirky lo-fi Indie-Pop. He has continued that impressive output into 2021 with four singles released so far this year.

“Kids Get Paid” is the latest track from Cam Rostami, released worldwide to all major streaming services on May 28, 2021. Once again the singer delivers a funky hybrid of vintage Rock and Hip-hop to create a thoroughly modern groove. The track opens with a grungy bit of Television-style proto-punk guitar a-la New York City’s CBGB era in the 70’s. An old-school breakbeat rhythm enters the mix and Rostami sings and raps a stream of consciousness narrative. Lyrically he uses bohemian images to paint a portrait of the confusion of youth. The catchy hook-laden track has a cool Strokes-meet-Beck vibe.
