We first heard from SEB SUMR in December of 2020 upon the release of his single “Blah Blah.” That track introduced us to Sebastian Sommer, a composer and multi-instrumentalist from Cologne, Germany. Although he made his solo debut in 2020, the multi-talented artist has been working in the music industry for nearly 15 years, creating Pop and EDM music with artists from across the globe. He continues that practice on his latest release, a 6 song EP in honor of the summer months, soon to pass into memory.
“Stories to Tell in the Summer ” is the brand new EP from SEB SUMR, released worldwide to all major streaming services on September 17, 2021. The record is a joyful look back at a season of sunshine, beaches and love. The record opens with the Pop/Trap track “Forever.” Italian rapper ‘Bryan’ delivers a melodic rap song in honor of summer fun. “For The Love ” follows, with a fun mix of 80’s New Wave guitar and synths paired with a modern hip-hop beat. Meanwhile, American rapper ‘Eshnab’ reminds us what we’re all here for.
“Feel the Same” is a soulful Dance/Pop tune that opens on some mellow Caribbean Pop vibes, eventually building up to an upbeat tropical house groove. “Crush” continues the Caribbean theme with a percussive steel drum and synth melody. South African singer ‘Shxnnon’ sings a sweet love song over a fun rhythm that mixes sugary Pop grooves with Hip-hop beats. ‘Bryan’ returns for the slow Trap motivation of “Champion.” It’s a smooth beat with a nice hook. The EP ends on the mostly acoustic, ethereal love song “For You.” Malaysian singer ‘Yin’ delivers an innocent and sweet testament of love’s devotion.
The EP’s cover art is by Laura Sophie Mohn, she’s a superstar. It was a picture I took with my phone in my second home in Poland. It’s beautiful there. Laura helped me to turn my vision into this fantastic illustrated artwork.
