Blowing My Own Trumpet Drops New Single

blowing my own trumpet

Blowing My Own Trumpet is the musical project led by the father/daughter team of trumpeter Claude and pianist Josephine Lamon. We first heard from the group in October of last year upon the release of their album ‘Umsindo.’ Although they are based in the United Kingdom, the band’s sound is heavily influenced by the music and traditions of Claude’s home country South Africa, as well as other traditions from around the globe. They stir it all up in a stew of Jazz, Folk and Pop music.

“She’s a Black Snake in My Grass” is the latest single from Blowing My Own Trumpet, released worldwide to all major streaming services on September 9, 2021. The song features the band’s signature organic sound. An acoustic ensemble of drums, bass, piano, guitar and trumpet deliver a rich and nuanced performance. The trumpet sings the song’s memorable hook as piano arpeggios bounce around a Jazz beat. Meanwhile, Claude and Josephine sing a narrative that effectively mixes folk tale imagery with personal experience and political commentary.
