We first heard from BrandonSonnet in July of this year upon the release of his single, “You Seem Fun.” That track introduced readers of The Static Dive to a talented multi-instrumentalist producer and composer with a distinctly unique vibe. His sound is equally influenced by experimental electronic music, Hip-hop, Psychedelic Rock and the long, hard winters of the Inuvialuit musician’s Western Canadian home.
He made his professional solo recording debut in 2020 with the release of the album “Odyssey.” Since then he has dropped a handful of tracks in advance of his sophomore album scheduled for a winter release. “Real Big” is the latest single from BrandonSonnet, released worldwide to all major streaming services on September 24, 2021. Once again the visionary producer creates an entirely unique sound from otherwise familiar sources. The track is a hypnotic mix of percussive retro synths, ambient vibes and a hard modern Trap beat.
Intentionally over-processed melodic vocals trade verses with the fast rapping Mnso, a Reggaeton artist from Edmonton Alberta and longtime Brandon collaborator. The juxtaposition of the two dramatically different vocal deliveries only adds to the otherworldly vibe of the song. It is a wild sound. Check out “Real Big” below. You can also hear the song on the Deep Indie Dance playlist or listen on your favorite streaming service.
