We first heard from Ngozi E Michael in July of this year upon the release of her single “Be Still and Know That I am God.” That song and a collection of three other recent tracks introduced us to a talented artist who was inspired to take her first step into the world of music as an adult. Since her debut in 2020 the independent singer/songwriter has delivered a steady string of new singles.
A native of Igboland in Biafra, West Africa, Ngozi is now a US citizen and a practicing nurse. Working on the Corona front lines inspired her to write the pandemic send-off “Goodbye Corona.” A musical career was born. Over the past year Ngozi has continued to produce intimate Folk and Pop tracks about life, love and faith.
Since July Ngozi has released four new tracks. Once again we find the compassionate singer telling universally relatable tales from her own personal and spiritual life. As a songwriter, Michael works with music producers from around the world. She chooses backing tracks to match the emotional and melodic tone of her compositions. This collaborative creative process has introduced some new sounds to her latest songs.
On the song “Trouble,” Ngozi delivers a first person address to the various maladies that impact us all through our days. Over a modern Country Pop arrangement she sings, “Trouble, you always make your way back to me.” She finds her response to this unwanted hardship in the song, “Handing Over to Jesus.” The song is a touching devotional set to a clean Adult Contemporary production.
“Happy Birthday To You” is a fun and sweet tune set to an upbeat Electro-Pop Caribbean groove. It is a sweet and loving birthday present wrapped in Reggae and Afro Pop vibes. “So Good to Me” is the latest single from Ngozi E Michael, released worldwide to all major streaming services on October 8, 2021. The classic Pop ballad is a thankful love letter to God. It is a heartfelt and beautiful sentiment.
