We first heard from Iliad Korin in July of this year, upon the release of his debut single “MagmaDiver.” That track introduced readers of The Static Dive to a genre-bending guitarist, composer and multi-instrumentalist producer. From his studio in Salt Lake City, Utah, Iliad and some occasional collaborators are creating virtuosic instrumental music with equal parts Jazz sophistication and Rock & Roll energy.
“The Man Who Lived in Dreams” is the latest single from Iliad Korin, released worldwide to all major streaming services on October 12, 2021. The song is a sweeping and cinematic instrumental featuring expert musicianship. On the track Iliad is joined by Joe Calderone who handles bass guitar and orchestration duties.
As the song opens, a dreamy guitar/keyboard intro sets the scene. Soon, a soaring lead guitar takes flight and rides a musical wave of ethereal guitars and lush synths. The sound rises and falls from an Ambient peace to a powerful Prog-Rock storm, and then back again with Iliad’s guitar matching the intensity at every turn. Throughout the performance the rhythm section infuses the track with intricate syncopated Jazz rhythms.
