Readers of The Static Dive first heard from Korvez in August of this year upon the release of “How Good Would That Be,” his collaboration with vocalist Andrea Angell. That track introduced us to New Jersey-based musician, composer and producer Kimon Katafigiotis. A veteran of stage and studio, he spent years playing in East Coast Alternative Rock bands before diving into the world of Electronic music.
As owner of the Asbury Park recording studio The Ultrascene, Kimon has worked with dozens of artists in multiple genres over the years. However, it was a guest DJ gig in Greece that ultimately sparked this new phase of his music career as an EDM producer. Motivated by his experience behind the decks in Athens and Kefalonia, he returned to The Ultrascene and started cutting tracks.
Since his 2018 debut album ‘Gravity Defied,’ Korvez has produced an impressive catalog of work; including the follow-up album ‘Disco Apocalypse’ and a steady string of singles. His latest track is an indirect product of his past life as a rocker. In the 90’s Kimon played guitar in the band ‘Fear of Falling.’ Last year the group got together for a reunion show. That’s when the bass player tipped him off to the vocal skills of fellow NJ musician Gina Petro, known professionally as HOLDN.
“We Both Know (feat. HOLDN)” is the latest single from Korvez, released worldwide to all major streaming services on October 15, 2021. The track is a dreamy Electro House/Trance groove featuring lush ambient synths and a hypnotic four-on-the-floor kick drum. Low bass tones ride the beat as percussive synth arpeggios dance around the edges of the mix. Meanwhile, HOLDN delivers an ethereal and soulful performance on this touching downtempo love song.
