Suzic’s Powerful New Single “My Life”

Suzic is the professional name of veteran singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Suzanne Carroll. Regular readers of The Static Dive first heard from the Waterford, Ireland musician in August upon the release of her single “Free.” However that track was just the latest in a career that has spanned over 30 years and spawned hit records with the likes of famed UK producer Dick Keating.

Over the past two years, Suzic has produced a new wave of singles and EPs. In her most recent work the eclectic artist has collaborated with singers and producers in the US and Europe to create a unique fusion of EDM and Pop styles. In that time the prolific songwriter has produced a remarkable volume of music, averaging at least one new song every month.

“My Life” is one of the latest singles from Suzic, released worldwide to all major streaming services on November 8, 2021. Vocalist Lillia.K and American rapper ThatKidFrom94 join the artist for an emotional track that combines elements of Pop, Hip-hop and EDM for a powerful and cinematic sound. A dramatic piano intro gives way to a syncopated groove and a rich mix of organic and electronic instrumentation.

ThatKidFrom94 takes the verses, rhyming about the struggles of making a life in music despite the naysayers. It is a powerful story that addresses doubting friends, foes and family alike. Lillia.K shines in the chorus featuring some expertly executed harmonies as she delivers the simple but powerful message, “This is my life.” Suzic explains that the song was inspired by her troubled relationship with her father.

[He] gave me a hard time with my music and I never got that support from him. Writing the song ‘My Life’ has helped me to heal that past hurt, to move on and believe I can make it with my music.
