Regular readers of The Static Dive know the name Margarita Shamrakov well. We first heard from the New York City songstress in July of last year upon the release of her single “IHOP Love.” That track introduced an eclectic, wildly creative and classically trained musician with Jazz chops and a poet’s pen.
A native of Ukraine, the longtime NYC resident is an accomplished musician, educator and award-winning songwriter. She even has a 1st Place win in the prestigious John Lennon Songwriting Contest. Margarita Shamrakov’s music crosses multiple genres from Pop to EDM and Classical. Lyrically she uses visual imagery and clever wordplay to spin social commentary and personal drama into a single cohesive message.
We featured Margarita Shamrakov’s single “The Greatest Love Story Ever Told” in March of this year. On December 8, 2021 she released the song’s new video. The film finds the singer alone, playing piano in her studio as she delivers this emotional heartbreaker of a ballad.
A very visual artist, there is always a performance art element to Margarita’s music. In the video she changes hair color, clothing and make-up repeatedly from scene to scene, transforming like a beautiful chameleon to match the myriad of color and texture surrounding her.
