Regular readers of The Static Dive know the band ENiAM (pronounced EN-I-AM) well. They are a collective of talented musicians from Maine who combine multiple genres into a cool mix of improvisation, beat poetry and philosophical vibes. We first heard from the group in February of 2021 upon the release of their debut single “Up.” They followed in July with the double single “Becoming” and “Plank.”
With each new release we find the band in a new evolutionary phase. Since their inaugural single, founding members Elliott (drums), Colin (bass) and Rev (keys, vocals) have welcomed vocalist/keyboardist Iris Caj and guitarist Alex Denny to the fold. Their latest track was born into its current state as a result of this evolution.
“Blinded By Love” is the brand new single from ENiAM, released worldwide to all major streaming services on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2021. Although it was one of the first songs the band wrote, it has changed significantly since those early days. The tune was originally an ethereal, keyboard -driven piece. In its final form, the track rolls on a mellow drum, bass and guitar funk.
Through the verse, the Berklee trained musicians lay down a fantastic Jazz groove. Meanwhile, Rev delivers a cerebral beat poetry meditation on the power of unconditional love in both our personal lives and in society as a whole. In the chorus the track takes a turn into the Rock realm with a bit of Grunge on the guitar and a catchy and memorable melodic hook.
