Thinkbendy is the professional name of singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Adam Bendy. Throughout the early 2000’s Adam recorded and toured the US as the bassist in the nationally popular New York jam band U-Melt. After leaving that project behind in 2013 he embarked on a solo career. The debut 12-track Thinkbendy album “Change” introduced the musician’s new vision.
On sophomore Thinkbendy release “The Essence of Time,” Bendy digs even deeper into his unique multi-genre groove. On the six song collection he weaves his intricate Jazz and Funk bass lines through sophisticated Alt-Pop and Classic Rock inspired arrangements. The record is built around visual and musical themes that explore the effects and consequences of inescapable journey through time. On the record Adam is joined by his long time friend and collaborator Robert Salzer on guitar (from U-melt), Jazz and orchestral drummer Devon Leigh, and guest musician Dr. Thomas Manuel on trumpet.
“Why This Way” is the current single from “The Essence of Time,” available worldwide on all major streaming services. A jazzy bass guitar and piano riff introduces the track before the track drops on a quirky, Talking Heads-style Pop groove accented by some soulful Blues guitar leads. The singer enters the mix with a mournful and regretful look back at a lost love. In the chorus the track kicks into a melodic, t0’s Rock vibe. The musicianship is excellent throughout. The band even throws in a little Yes-style Art-Rock riff in the bridge.
