We first heard from Frankie Flowers in January upon the release of her cover of The Smiths classic, “There is a Light That Never Goes Out.” That track introduced readers of The Static Dive to a talented young singer/songwriter from Ontario, Canada with an infectious sound comprised of equal parts classic Alternative Rock and modern Indie, with a healthy dose of psychedelia thrown in for good measure.
Frankie Flowers debuted in 2020 with the single “Psychedelic Sunrise.” Since then she has released three singles and connected with hundreds of thousands of fans worldwide. As of this writing her Spotify profile reports over 10K monthly listeners. Those are impressive numbers for an artist who was originally studying to be an EDM DJ before launching an Indie Rock career after writing songs in response to a bad breakup.
On February 24, 2022 Frankie Flowers released the official music video of her sophomore single “Kiss Me Like The World is Ending.” The track opens on a mid-tempo Indie Rock groove that brings to mind the “Head on the Door” heyday of The Cure. She pairs that classic Dark Wave vibe with a soulful Indie Pop vocal. The song’s video continues the past/present mash-up as we see the singer and her girlfriend play out a romantic drama through video arcade scenes, neon nightclub lights and payphones.
