Tim Lin is a young Jazz saxophonist with a style born of the golden age of American bebop. A native of San Francisco, California the Taiwanese American musician was initially trained by world renowned Bay Area saxophonist, composer and educator Dann Zinn. Later, Tim made his way to Los Angeles to study at the University of Southern California’s Thornton School of Music. There he worked with legends like Bob Sheppard and Bob Mintzer.
Now in his twenties and back in the Bay Area, Tim Lin has continued to work with some of the biggest names in modern Jazz including; Kenny Burrell, Tootie Heath, Russell Ferrante, Terri Lyne Carrington, Carl Allen, Mike Clark, Essiet Okon Essiet, Joe Gilman, among others. He has performed at high-profile West Coast gigs and venues like the Monterey Jazz Festival, San Jose Jazz Festival, Blue Whale, Catalina Bar and Grill, Monterey Next Generation Jazz Festival and the Fillmore Jazz Festival.
“My Foolish Heart” is the debut single from Tim Lin, released worldwide to all major streaming services on February 13, 2022. Joined by Andy LaVerne on piano, Billy Drummond on drums and Jay Anderson on bass, the horn player delivers a soulful and faithful rendition of the Jazz standard. He is releasing the track in advance of his debut album “Romance in Formosa.” Produced by Bob Sheppard, the record is scheduled for a Spring 2022 release.
