We first heard from Ferny G way back in November of 2020 upon the release of his debut EP “What Else Do I Do.” That record introduced readers of The Static Dive to a versatile singer, rapper and songwriter from Washington State with an adventurous genre-bending sound. He has a fluid Alt/Hip-hop sound that mixes elements of Pop, Rap and R&B into his own unique vibe.
Ferny G followed that debut with 5 singles over the course of the past year. With each new release he further expands the scope of his style. “butterflies” is the brand new single from Ferny G, released worldwide to all major streaming services on March 25, 2022.
A melodic and moody Indie Pop guitar introduces the track as the sounds of nature paint the edges of the mix. Ferny steps to the mic with a soft spoken tale of young love. A downtempo Hip-hop beat drops as ambient synths and piano keys float in the distance. The track continues on that chilled-out vibe as the singer delivers a sweet and dreamy Emo love song.

Where are you from?
I’m from Bellingham Washington!
How long have you been making music?
If we’re talking like waaaaay back when, I would say, I started at 12 years old. Obviously it wasn’t good lmao but having been recording/making and writing songs since then, it definitely gave me more comfortability and experience when I’m on the mic.
Who are the musicians involved in your project?
So as of this moment, I’m working on my best ever project and I’ve decided that it deserves a deluxe edition. So all of the musicians / collaborations will be on the deluxe version. As of right now, the ONLY song off the project is my new single “butterflies”, which was produced by my colleague FISHDONTSLEEP who was involved.
Who are your biggest musical influences?
My BIGGEST musical influence of all time is Beyoncé. Hands down, dead or alive. I literally have to manifest that this woman knows who I am. She literally cannot die without her knowing i exist. But also other influences that inspire me to make music would be… Ariana Grande, Kesha, Grace VanderWaal & Billie Eilish.
What is your greatest non-musical influence?
Greatest non musical influence? Would have to be my best friend Alex. He inspires me to be a better person and he inspires me to get in shape. We’ve been besties since like 1st grade and I wouldn’t trade him for the world. We got matching eye hand tattoos to promise that we would never give up on ourselves and our dreams.
What inspired you to create this project?
The record I’m working on as of now, was inspired by love, clouds, a little bit of glitter, and the feeling of knowing I’m making my art the way I want to. There has to be inspiration when making something special, it’s what gives it its unique flavor!
What are your plans for the future (musically)?
I definitely see myself continuing my musical journey and hopefully tour across the country. I really want to be in the music business and I’ll work as hard as I can to make sure it happens. As of right now, I just want to perform at more shows and get my name and music heard.
