We first heard from J-Vance in November of last year upon the release of his single “Halloween Party.” That record introduced readers of The Static Dive to singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist producer Jerry V. Howard. The multi-talented artist returned to the world of music in 2021 after a 23 year hiatus.
Throughout the 80’s and 90’s Jerry was active in the music scene of his Tennessee home. Sadly, mental and physical health issues derailed his plans for a while. Now that he’s back, the prolific producer is making up for lost time. Since his debut last year, J-Vance has released three Indie Synth-Pop singles.
“Purple Shirt (Happy New Year)” is the brand new single from J-Vance, released worldwide to all major streaming services on May 6, 2022. As is the case with all of his new music, the versatile musician composes and performs every note on the song. The track rolls on a New Wave-inspired retro Electro-Pop groove. Synth arpeggios ride a drum machine beat as a very funky bass guitar adds flavor. Jerry steps to the mic and delivers a scathing send-off to those who have wronged him.
