PsychCloned is an old friend of The Static Dive. He is Gabriel Pureco, a composer and producer from North Carolina whose love of video games brought him to music. An early attempt to score a game a friend was programming led to a fully blown music obsession and a whole new career trajectory for the young artist.
Since his 2018 debut, PsychCloned has released a sizable catalog of work. He makes cinematic genre-bending instrumental music featuring complex arrangements and virtuosic performances from a small cadre of collaborators. After releasing a series of four full-length albums, the prolific composer has recently focused on single and EP releases.
Stylistically Pureco’s sound has evolved over time. His early work was mostly orchestral, whereas more recent releases utilize smaller ensembles and lean more toward Rock and Jazz than Classical music. Working with artists like Ryan Jones (guitar) and Space Hobo (drums), PsychCloned dove into new musical worlds on recent tracks like “Spring Rush” and “Full Throttle.”
“Cosmos” is the brand new single from PsychCloned, released worldwide to all major streaming services on June 3, 2022. Gabriel has once again teamed up with his favorite guitarist and drummer to create a beautiful and complex Rock instrumental. Jones’ acoustic guitar introduces the track as Space Hobo eases into the mix.
As the track progresses we transition through multiple musical moods. The early acoustic guitar gives way to a psychedelic electric piano chill-out. Pureco gradually introduces Prog Rock complexity with a kinetic bass line and melodic keys. The energy builds until the track has morphed into a head-banging 80’s rocker, only to eventually circle back to the smooth tones of the intro.
