We first heard from the music production duo of Mike Rogers and Gary Lefkowith in October of 2021. That is when the duo known professionally as Le Sonic released their smooth jazz hit “Any Moment,” featuring guitar legend Robert Lee. That record went on to reach #1 on Billboard’s smooth jazz chart.
Mike and Gary are music industry veterans. Rogers has crafted hit records like Deee-Lite’s iconic “Groove Is in the Heart” while Lefkowith is an award winning songwriter and a radio promoter who has worked decades of hits from Elvis to Adele.
“I’ll Be The One” is the latest single from Le Sonic, released worldwide to all major streaming services on June 3, 2022. Once again the team has joined forces with Robert Lee on guitar. On vocals they have recruited the talents of American Idol contestant and a two time winner of the historic Amateur Night at the Apollo, Lauran Beluzo.
From the first note of Beluzo’s smooth mezzo soprano, “I’ll be the One” brings to mind the music of classic 70’s pop/jazz icons like The Carpenters. She and Lee trade virtuosic verses, accompanied by an organic jazz ensemble of piano, bass, drums and a bit of percussion to add a nice Latin flare. The song is a rewrite of Gary’s very first single, originally released in 1976.
Now the original Jazz vision has been realized for me. “I’ll Be The One” is what I wanted a woman to sing to me. To really sell me on herself and put her emotions on the line for my benefit.
