We first heard from Elektragaaz in October of 2021 upon the release of their single “Dancing with Evil Intent.” That track introduced readers of The Static Dive to a wildly creative electronic multi-fusion band from New York City. The genre-bending group creates adventurous instrumental music, presented in a collection of EPs built upon a theme.
Since the debut of “The Synaesthetic Picture Show Now Playing, Pt 1” in 2021 the prolific crew led by a mysterious Frisian composer Poppo Redband have released five records in the series. In that time the group has connected with tens of thousands jazz and instrumental music fans worldwide with tracks like “Her Body is a Dance” and “The Ghost of Ozymandias.” The band accurately describes their latest as, “a dive beneath the waves of a sonic sea, a relentless manhunt, a saucy dancing cat, a mystery hidden behind dark veils and much, much more.”
“The Synaesthetic Picture Show Now Playing, Pt 5” is the brand new EP from Elektragaaz, released worldwide via all major streaming services on June 17, 2022. The record is a journey through a diverse mix of musical worlds. From the Avant garde electronic of the opener “Behind the Final Veil” to the ethereal and melodic “Daybreak and Deja Vu,” the record navigates its way through a boundless world of musical genres.
We groove to Latin vibes and Santana-esque guitar on “October’s Child” and dig into uptempo and dramatic synthy prog rock on “Manhunter”. The group slows things down on tracks like the cinematic “Flying Underwater,” the world-music inspired “Sebastian’s Cat” and the beautiful closer “Daybreak and Deja Vu.”
