Over the past few years, award-winning Boston musician Munk Duane has carved out a unique and soulful niche in the music industry. An alumnus of his hometown’s prestigious Berklee College of Music, he has a long-established presence as a popular guitarist and bandleader in the city’s legendary music scene. From his Bad Stella studio in the Beantown suburbs, the prolific songwriter/composer creates smart, soulful and funk-infused alt-rock/pop.
Readers of The Static Dive have followed Munk Duane’s story since the release of his Prince-inspired jam “Sweet Tooth” in November of 2020. He has in that time continued to build a stellar catalog of music. In addition to his solo work, Duane has written dozens of tracks for film and television. He recently announced his addition as a composer to Sony Music Publishing’s production arm, Extreme Music.
“Just a Word” is the brand new single from Munk Duane, released worldwide via all major streaming services on November 11, 2022. The track opens on a classic soul intro before the beat drops on a downtempo dark-pop bass and electric piano groove. Vocal harmonies, guitars and keys paint the edges of the mix as Munk sings a cryptic tale of communication confusion and insecurity.
