That track introduced The Static Dive readers to an eclectic and talented singer, songwriter and producer from northern Utah. The genre-fluid composer writes musically sophisticated songs which incorporate elements of pop, rock and hip-hop.
Since his 2021 debut, the prolific Carnate_X has released a string of successful singles. Each has helped further define his unique and adventurous sound. Lyrically he writes deeply personal reflections on life, love and mental health. On “Reflections”, he took a long view of the personal and societal issues affecting his life and future.

The song is a dark and introspective look at the devastating effects of mental illness. In his signature genre-smashing style, he pairs a low and slow trap beat with a prog-rock vocal melody reminiscent of alt/metal heroes like Tool and Muse. On the mic, the singer struggles to escape from beneath the weight of his own thoughts.
