Lou Anthony’s New Love Letter To NorCal

lou anthony

Lou Anthony is a veteran hip-hop artist, producer and record label owner. Originally from PA, the West Philly rapper recently migrated to the Left Coast and now calls Northern California home. Regular readers of The Static Dive will remember the multifaceted artist from his inspired 2020 full-length album, S.E.L.F:Something Everyone Looks For.

He made his solo professional recording debut in 2016 with the R&B/hip-hop slow jam “All My Life”. In the seven years since, the multi-talented Lou Anthony has covered a lot of ground, musically and geographically. His sound is rooted in old-school 90’s hip-hop. However, from that starting point the genre-bending artist has ventured into jazz, pop, funk, soul and beyond.

“Girls From the Bay” is the brand new single from Lou Anthony, released worldwide via all major streaming services on March 8, 2023. Both musically and lyrically, the track is a hip-hop love letter to the emcee’s adopted NorCal home. Built on a sample of Christopher Williams’ 1992 soul hit “Every Little Thing U Do”, the track rolls on a classic West Coast groove.

It’s a sound the rapper first hinted at on his 2020 underground hit “Classy“. He’s all in on “Girls From the Bay ”. In his signature cool and confident flow, Lou Anthony drops shout outs to Vallejo, Oakland, San Francisco, the SFSU Gators, and some famous Bay Area beauties.
