Two Planets Away Drop New Reggae Vibes On ‘Flakes And Ghosts’

two planets away

Two Planets Away is a quartet of veteran musicians who, together and individually, have been making their mark on the Northeast college and club circuit since the 1990s. Regular readers of The Static Dive will remember the band from their 2019 album The Thinnest Slice. That record introduced an upstate, NY indie supergroup with virtuosic chops and deep soul vibes.

Fronted by singer, songwriter, and keyboardist Mark Elmendorf, Two Planets Away features Eric D Hamell on drums, Terry Scoville on guitar, and James Woods on Bass. Hailing from influential bands like Shu, Capital Zen, Formula 5, and The Minivans, each member brings years of live and studio experience to the groove. The band recently dropped their first new music in nearly three years.

“Flakes and Ghosts’ ‘ is the brand new single and video from Two Planets Away, released worldwide via all major streaming services on May 9, 2023. The tune rolls on a laid-back reggae groove. Hamell and Woods lay down a chilled organic rasta funk as Scoville supplies a perfect scratch rhythm and some tasty blues-infused lead guitar. On the mic, Elmendorf delivers a soulful warning about false allies and fair-weather friends.
