We first heard from Fool of Glass in May upon the release of their eponymous debut single. That record introduced readers of The Static Dive to a new collaborative musical project from Amsterdam Olympic Records. The company and the band are both creations from the mind of Dutch songwriter, producer, and entrepreneur, Michiel Mulder.
Fool of Glass’ debut single has already connected with independent music fans around the world. The melancholy, Billie Eilish-inspired dark-pop track is still climbing the indie charts. As of this writing the song has over 17,000 streams on Spotify, and counting. The project’s sophomore release is a collaboration with award-winning Dutch-English novelist, Rebekka Bremmer.
“If I Knew” is the brand new single from Fool of Glass, released worldwide via all major streaming services on June 30, 2023. Somber minor-key piano chords open the track as a female vocalist steps to the mic. She offers a harrowing tale of abuse and recovery, as she assesses the aftermath of a toxic relationship. Soon the beat drops on a melancholy downtempo groove. Ethereal ambient synths and arena-rock guitar licks paint the edges of the mix as our heroine resolves to rise above the pain of the past.
