We first heard from Aria during the holidays last year upon the release of his single “A Christmas Letter“. That mellow pop plea for peace on Earth introduced readers of The Static Dive to Italian musician and composer, Mariano Schiavolini. A veteran of the international stage, he has performed for decades with his popular prog-rock band Celeste.
Since launching his solo career in 2017, Schiavolini has released six singles and the 2022 EP The Next Life. He has connected with fans around the world thanks to popular tracks charting in his native Italy and abroad. His songs frequently address human and animal rights causes which are close to the composer’s heart. He works with talent across the globe to bring his music to life.
“Smile” is the brand new single and video from Aria, released worldwide via all major streaming services on August 14, 2023. Joined by a roster of world-class talent, including bassist Joseph Patrick (Steward Copeland), Mariano delivers an epic adult contemporary pop anthem. Piano, strings, and horns set the scene over a chilled rhumba groove. On the mic, Portuguese singer Ariel Jones delivers the inspiring words of English author Nicolette Turner in this cinematic ballad that recalls the classic orchestral pop of the 1960s.
