We first heard from Clerkenwwell earlier this year upon the release of his single “Generation Chasm“. That track introduced The Static Dive readers to emerging independent Belgian recording artist and multi-instrumentalist producer, Frederik Goossens. Now based in Hong Kong, the veteran musician will debut his solo project in 2022.
Since his debut, the prolific producer has released a remarkable volume of work, including two full-length albums and five singles in 2023. The genre-bending composer is intensely devoted to his craft and points to a diverse list of influences from Jimi Hendrix to Euromi Euhara. On his latest, Clerkenwell once again teams up with Bahama-based rapper Grafezzy for a fun hip-hop banger.
“Never Drinking Again” is the newly remastered single from Clerkenwell and Grafezzy, available worldwide via all major streaming services. The track opens on a funky piano vamp before the beat drops on an organic old-school hip-hop groove. On the mic, the rapper drops a rapid-fire stream-of-consciousness freestyle about a night out that went bad in every direction. As the track progresses it builds into a killer jazz-infused jam.
