We first heard from Silver Magpie way back in December 2021, upon the release of his single “Before You Leave“. A subsequent single “Cartoon Hero” followed in 2022. Those tracks introduced The Static Dive readers to a multifaceted singer, songwriter, and recording artist Jesus Gutierrez.
Based in Guadalajara, Mexico, Jesus Gutierrez first began songwriting when he was just 14 years-old. He debuted the Silver Magpie project in 2020 with the single “Star-Crossed Lovers”, but then took an extended break in 2022. In August, the singer returned with his first single in over two years.
“Dickens” is the brand new single from Silver Magpie, released worldwide via all major streaming services on August 22, 2024. A downtempo lo-fi beat and electric piano open the track on a noire vibe. Psychedelic guitar and keys paint the periphery as Jesus steps to the mic. Rapping, singing, and speaking he offers an open letter about the state of our troubled world and its impact on an individual life.
