Nathan Yates is no stranger to these pages. Regular readers of The Static Dive will remember his solo work on tracks like “Heat“, “Better Off“, and the 2021 album Outros. Nathan also frequently collaborates with Cat Greenfield, as on last year’s holiday bop “Kisses for Christmas“.
A veteran performer and recording artist, Nathan Yates has appeared on stages around the world. Now based in the Big Apple, he is a genre-agnostic multi-instrumentalist songwriter with a penchant for finding inspiration in unexpected places, from pop-culture to everyday life. On his latest single, the tunesmith turns his attention to the NBA and his beloved Golden State Warriors.
“Splash Brother” is the brand new single from Nathan Yates, released worldwide via all major streaming services on October 18, 2024. An electric wah-wah guitar opens the track on a classic 70’s NYC funk vibe. Soon the beat drops on an uptempo yacht-rock groove. The singer steps to the mic and offers a soul-powered ode to Warriors legend Klay Thompson who left the team after 13 seasons and 4 Championships. The live band lays down a solid jam as Nathan tells the tale of Thompson and his longtime fellow ‘Splash Brother’ Stephen Curry.
