Bob Smith pitched demos in the 80s zine scene, toured the Northeast college jam-band circuit in the 90s, and then rode the cutting edge of the digital music revolution. Along the way he wrote, recorded, and published hundreds of songs as a solo artist and with his bands Shu and The Distractions.

In the early 2000’s Bob Smith was a founding partner and the primary technical developer of HitPredictor.com. The boutique company helped define organic online music promotion and research. While there, he ran promotional and research campaigns for every major record label and worked with radio stations across the United States.

Through his work with HitPredictor.com, Bob wrote a regularly occurring byline column in Billboard magazine. He also wrote a popular weekly newspaper column and hosted underground music TV and radio shows in his Upstate, NY hometown.

Now performing and recording as The Static Dive, Bob Smith has released a string of groundbreaking instrumental records. He works as one half of the House of Static production team and record label with his business partner and collaborator Kilo House.

Bob has a number of in-progress projects in the film industry. He is a co-producer, co-writer, co-creator, and composer on the pre-production Operation Dandelion, and has won awards for his work as a composer on the soon-to-be released documentary The Reynaldo Rey Story. Bob is also under contract as a composer with Ytinifni Pictures.
