TheKnowledgeGod is Tobia Phoenix, an independent Hip-hop artist currently residing in Atlanta, Georgia. Regular readers of The Static Dive are well acquainted with the rapper. We first heard from him in January upon the release of his track “81 Familia” and then again in August for his single “Peace of Mind.” Each of those songs looked back on his early life growing up in Los Angeles. Though the tracks give props to the folks who helped raise him up to a better life, it was not an easy road for the young Tobia.
“Ocean Waves” is the latest single from TheKnowledgeGod, released worldwide to all major streaming services on September 30, 2021. On the new track, Phoenix once again looks back to the West Coast, but this time he finds healing memories of the sea. After the recent loss of a loved one, Tobia turned to these memories for solace. The song has that California sound as it cruises the PCH on a cool, downtempo groove. A Lo-fi beat and smooth bass tones meet the sounds of seagulls and crashing waves as the rapper recounts serene memories of the sand and sea.
Growing up by the ocean and seagulls, it was always a place I could enjoy and get some deep therapeutic moments in. I wanted to bring that emotion, mindset and experience.
