Doug Cash – Locust

  • by

We first heard from Doug Cash (a/k/a DC Pryor) in October upon the release of the video for his song “Emotional Treason.” That track introduced The Static Dive readers to a multi-genre singer, songwriter and record label owner with over 30 years in the music business. In that time the Sacramento, California musician has produced dozens of singles, EPs and albums.

Over the years, Doug Cash has worked in Rock, Pop, R&B and Country. In 2015 he released the appropriately titled album “Singer Songwriter.” The mostly acoustic record featured twelve DC originals ranging from Pop to Folk and bluesy Americana including “Emotional Treason” and his latest single/video.

“Locust” is the new video from Doug Cash, released worldwide to YouTube on June 15, 2021. The song is the opening track from the “Singer Songwriter” album. Already one of the singer’s most popular songs, it has over 100K spins across multiple platforms.

The song features Doug Cash alone with his guitar, delivering a wistful and soulful torch song about an unnamed femme fatale beauty. While expertly fingerpicking a Jazz-infused chord progression he sings, “She laid waste to my heart, like a swarm of locusts.” The song’s video pairs the tale with a parade of gorgeous runway models.

Check out the “Locust” video above. You can also hear the track on the Deep Indie Songwriters playlist, or listen on your favorite streaming service. Follow the links below to connect with Doug Cash. Get on his socials and dig into his deep catalog of music.
