Disco Dicks’ New Superlicious Funk Jam

disco dicks

We first heard from Disco Dicks in November of 2020 upon the release of their live performance song and video, “Apollo.” That track introduced readers of The Static Dive to the songwriting and production duo of Dutch guitarist/vocalist Rutger Martens and German drummer Stefan Wandel. From their “Dutch Datscha” studio in Mannheim, Germany the two talented and adventurous musicians create funky organic Rock, Dance and Funk hybrid groove.

Rutger and Stefan first joined forces in 2017. They each had played in a series of traditional bands over the years and were looking for something new. They shared a vision to ring live instrumentation back to popular music and to find the common bond between Rock, Pop and Disco. That bond is the groove, and Disco Dicks found it.

“Superlicious Girl” is the latest single and video from Disco Dicks, released worldwide to all major streaming services on January 28, 2022. The track opens on a grungy, funky guitar/bass/drum rhythm. Rutger enters the mix, telling the tale of a chance encounter with a mysterious and beautiful girl.

It’s a great vibe with elements of Rock, Disco and classic Funk. The infectious groove gets us on the dancefloor as the singer tries in vain to decipher the identity of the ‘Superlicious Girl’ from the lipstick stains and phone number she left behind. The song’s video acts out the sexy mystery with a cast of beautiful young bohemians.

Check out the “Superlicious Girl” video below. You can also hear the song on both the Deep Indie Dive and Deep Indie Dance playlists, or listen on your favorite streaming service.
