La’Ron – Homies

La’Ron is a singer, songwriter, rapper, dancer and choreographer who made his professional solo recording debut in 2019 with the EP “#AndThenItWasMyTurn.” That record introduced a multifaceted artist equally adept at delivering Pop, Hip-hop and R&B jams. Lyrically, his songs make social, political and personal observations about our world as it is seen through the eyes of a young, gay black man in New York City.

Regular readers of The Static Dive will remember La’Ron’s 2020 COVID quarantine single “Lockdown.” He followed last year with the powerful “Black Black,” a song that takes a hard look at race relations in America. On his latest single, the singer takes a step back from those big social issues to unravel a complex personal tale of friendship and sex.

“Homies” is the brand new single from La’Ron, released worldwide to all major streaming services on March 25, 2022. The track opens on a smooth bassline and R&B keys riding a classic Boombap beat. Guest vocalist Promknght lends his soulful tenor to match the track’s classic 90’s vibe. La’Ron steps to the mic with an old-school freestyle. The two vocalists take turns singing and rapping about a complicated friends-with-benefits arrangement.

You ever denied someone’s sexual advances cause you just wanted to be friends? Then gave in because the MUTUAL attraction was everything you desired. Then regretted it because it changed the dynamic of the relationship. But didn’t really regret it because you’d do it again. Yeah, that’s what my new single is about.
