ConfessionsOVERseas is the brand new project from Korea-based world-travelling American composer, producer and model Steve Williams. The last time readers of The Static Dive heard from the mysterious songwriter was in December 2020 upon the release of his introspective COVID-born EP “Somewhere from Isolation.” That record followed his debut album “Big Dreams, Small City.”
Those records introduced us to a wonderfully eclectic artist who freely associates Jazz basslines with Pop melodies and Hip-hop beats with Industrial noise. Williams creates rich soundscapes that flow stylistically in whichever way the story requires. His music is thematic, often setting a mood and the subtly suggesting emotions with whispered tones and repeated turns of phrase.
“Drift” is the debut single from ConfessionsOVERseas, released worldwide via all major streaming services May 6, 2022. Ambient synths and hypnagogic female vocals open the track and transport us to an elevated plain. Soon the beat drops on a rolling percussive groove built on elements of both House and World music. Williams steps to the mic repeating the mantra ‘deep mistrust was the issue’ before landing on the positive, “I’m so glad to be with you.”
