Regular readers of The Static Dive know Kele Fleming from recent singles like “Echo Chamber” and “Sturgeon Love.” Those tracks introduced us to a talented veteran singer/songwriter from Vancouver. Since 2004, Kele (pronounced ‘Kelly’) has been creating poetic and socially conscious Indie-Folk music that shines a light on environmental concerns, women’s rights and LGBT issues.
For her latest single, Kele Fleming has teamed up with Canadian composer, sound designer and artist, Atlas to Earth (aka Brett Janzen). Since 2016 , the diversely talented multi-instrumentalist producer has released a string of experimental singles, EPs and albums that spans the stylistic globe from Ambient Electronic to Alternative Rock, Trip-Hop and beyond. On their new collaboration, Janzen takes Kele’s sound into some exciting and previously uncharted waters.
“Vanishing of Bees (Atlas to Earth Remix Synthwave)” is the brand new single from Kele Fleming and Atlas to Earth, released worldwide to all major streaming services on May 20, 2022. Ambient clouds paint the edges of the mix as Kele steps to the mic for her ode to the tragic and mysterious disappearance of bees around the world. Soon the beat drops on a chilled Synthwave groove.
Gone are the acoustic piano, guitar and banjo of Kele Fleming’s original 2019 version of “Vanishing of Bees”. Atlas to Earth has transformed that organic track into a lush downtempo electronic mix of classic synths, percussive arpeggios and atmospheric soundscapes. His crystal clean mix is a perfect match to Kele’s ethereal vocals.
